Jumiah Binte Junit
Mdm Jumiah Junit, diagnosed with polio at the tender age of three, has faced a lifetime of physical challenges. With limited mobility and the constant struggle of daily living, she yearned for a life filled with purpose and independence. Introduced to BYSD, she found a supportive community that empowered her to overcome adversity. The organization provided essential assistance, including transportation, wheelchairs, and financial support for religious pilgrimages. Through BYSD, Mdm Jumiah has been able to participate in religious classes, forge lasting friendships, and experience the joy of community.
Azhar Bin Samsudin
Being with BYSD since 2018, Azhar found solace and a renewed purpose in his life after going through a tough period accepting his disability as a hip disc amputee. He fondly remembered how BYSD’s president Mdm Aisah Ibrahim approached him in the MRT one day, to ask if he has any interest in inclusive sports. Since then, Azhar tried a few inclusive sports including bowling organised by BYSD, and discovered his hidden potential in rugby. He is also blessed to be able to represent his team in rugby competitions locally and overseas.
